Basketball: Nice organizes its 3-on-3 tournament, US-style!

“SUMM3R NICE BASK3T” is the name of a sporting and cultural event entirely focused on basketball culture. This first edition will take place during the summer.
With its Anglophone connotations due to the cosmopolitan nature of Nice and the sense of freedom created by vacations, the goal is to attract the widest possible audience to a unique event that heralds a great celebration.


basket_nice.jpg This tournament will primarily take place outdoors, close to the urban culture associated with the event. The Vauban Stadium, with its six courts, is the ideal location. The finals of the contests and games will take place indoors, followed by the awards ceremony.

The tournament is OPEN, meaning it is open to everyone, whether or not they are registered with the French Basketball Federation. Girls and boys aged 10 to 19 can try out this sport at the two sites (mentioned above) in a festive and free-spirited atmosphere. Over 500 participants are expected!

The SUMM3R NICE BASK3T

It’s the name of a sporting and cultural event. Entirely focused on basketball culture in a broad sense, the “SUMMER NICE BASKET” combines sport and hip-hop sound in the heart of the city of Nice.

It will be an opportunity, over a weekend, to witness a unique spectacle and come together around a shared passion.
Summ3rโ€ฆ with this 1st edition that aims to make a lasting impression, Cavigal Basket intends to reproduce it throughout future summers. Moreover, the season seems conducive to it; it also has connotations of vacation, freedom, and sunshine.

Nice… the 5th largest community in France in terms of population, it is located in the heart of an urban area, bordered by the Bay of Angels. The project aims to expand within Nice. The goal is to attract as many young people as possible from different backgrounds to an unprecedented event, heralding a festive weekend.

Bask3tโ€ฆ is above all a popular sport with its own cultural and media exposure. It is musically associated with hip-hop. Coupled with the intensity of the matches, this promises to be a major festive event.

10:30 AM: 1st phase of Contests & Activities (Breakdancing, โ€ฆ)

1:30 PM: Start of matches for Juniors
3:30 PM: 2nd phase of Contests & Activities (Freestyle Demo)
8:30 PM: 3rd phase of Contests & Activities (DJ)
9:30 PM: End of the day

Sunday, June 19, 2011, from 9 AM to 5:30 PM

9:00 AM: Resumption and end of pool matches
10:30 AM: Ranking matches
12:00 PM: Contest finals
1:00 PM: Start of final phases: Semifinals & Finals
5:00 PM: Closing ceremony & awards presentation

Activities & Contests

Two days of festivities animated by a DJ and breakdancer groups who will enliven the matches and contests.

For the younger ones (under 12 years), we offer the opportunity to discover basketball and 3×3 practices with an Initiation organized and supervised by the CNB06 Mini Basketball School. Certified and experienced coaches will take care of the little “star grains” to give them a taste for the game and victory through various workshops, relay games, and initiation matches.

2 BALL CONTEST

In teams, young participants must score as many baskets as possible from one of the 6 shooting spots. The shooter cannot shoot twice in a row from the same spot. Contestants try to score as many points as possible in 1 minute.

3-POINT SHOOTING CONTEST

The perfect score is 30 points. The 3 players with the highest scores qualify for the final.
