As the Book Festival approaches, the announcement of the winner of the 28th Nice Baie des Anges Prize took place at the Villa Massena.
On Thursday, May 16, 2024, the Villa Masséna hosted the ceremony announcing the winner of the 28th Nice Baie des Anges Prize. Under the attentive eyes of Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice and President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, his deputy Jean-Luc Gagliolo, as well as the jury chaired by writer Boualem Sansal, Camille de Peretti was crowned for her remarkable novel “L’Inconnue du Portrait“.
Since its creation in 1996, the Nice Baie des Anges Prize, sponsored and endowed by the City of Nice, rewards a novel published in the 12 months preceding the Nice Book Festival. Presided over this year by Franz-Olivier Giesbert, the jury, composed of writers such as Paule Constant of the Goncourt Academy, Irène Frain, Aurélie de Gubernatis, Didier van Cauwelaert, Laurent Seksik, as well as Jean-Luc Gagliolo, Deputy Mayor of Nice, and Nicolas Galup, editor-in-chief of BFM Nice Côte d’Azur, along with 10 passionate readers, unanimously chose “L’Inconnue du Portrait” by Camille de Peretti.
The Book Festival is coming soon to Nice
The 28th Nice Book Festival will take place from May 31 to June 2. The Nice Baie des Anges Prize will be officially awarded to Camille de Peretti by Christian Estrosi. Under the presidency of Boualem Sansal, the festival will host over 200 authors gathered around the evocative theme “The Courage”.
During the ceremony, Christian Estrosi emphasized the relevance of the theme of courage for this year’s Book Festival. Indeed, he insisted on its importance in the current global context. He stated: “The word courage has a special meaning. We are in a democratic environment where courage is essential while cowardice is prevalent these days“.
The countdown is on for the eagerly anticipated start of the Book Festival, which will open its doors on May 31. There will be conferences as well as debates and moments of sharing, promising an unforgettable literary celebration.
