Box Office: The Best is Yet to Come by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre De La Patellière

Like the great Italian comedies of the 1970s, here is a film that is both funny and moving. A story that goes through all moods and holds many surprises.

Life always holds surprises; it is often more ironic, surprising, beautiful, or cruel than fiction.

In “Le Meilleur reste à venir,” in theaters since December 4, 2019, Patrick Bruel and Fabrice Luchini portray two childhood friends whose lives will be turned upside down by a misunderstanding: gravely ill without knowing it, César (Patrick Bruel) believes that Arthur (Fabrice Luchini) will die within a few months. The two friends decide to drop everything to finally make up for lost time and face their past and regrets.

The striking dialogues do not leave anyone indifferent, and critics are also unanimous about the actor duo. Patrick Bruel and Fabrice Luchini had already worked together in 1985, in the comedy “P.R.O.F.S,” which marked the beginning of their careers. The chemistry is naturally palpable on screen.

The film chains together improbable situations and seamlessly alternates between scenes with absurd intentions and sequences meant to evoke emotion. We’ll see if the audience discovering it in theaters will be swept away by the emotion.
