By establishing this event 8 years ago, the Department aimed to tackle a challenge: making classical music accessible to as many people as possible and demonstrating that art is not the privilege of an elite but the heritage of everyone.


cestpasclassique.jpg As the 9th edition dawns, it’s safe to say that the mission is accomplished, as approximately 60,000 spectators attend the dozens of free performances offered each year.

Today, “Cโ€™est pas classique” is the must-attend musical event of the department!
Initiated by the Department to make classical music appreciated by all,

Indeed, Cโ€™est pas classique, allows thousands of visitors to discover or rediscover the full breadth of this musical genre, magnificently highlighted by renowned artists and ensembles from the Alpes-Maritimes and around the world.

Eric Ciotti proudly presented this event in the presence of the creator Christian Estrosi, at the time President of the General Council, and Dr. Alain Frรฉre, the unchanging Mr. Culture of the Alpes-Maritimes.

For Eric Ciotti: “Cโ€™est pas Classique, alongside the Summer Evenings, is a flagship event that demonstrates the strong commitment of the General Council to culture. Thanks to the investment and partnership with the City of Nice, these free, varied, and quality concerts make this Nice event a unique musical gathering in France.”

Continuing: “All the elements are thus in place for this 9th edition to meet our expectations and the passion that drives each of its dedicated actors.”

The 2012 edition gathered 65,000 spectators: more than double the attendance in 2005. Since its inception, 410,000 people have been captivated by Cโ€™est pas classique.
