For only €10, you can purchase the Cannes Pass Expo, which grants you access to 5 exhibitions: Along the Island, an Imagined Archipelago / Orsten Groom, Limbo / Agnès Varda – Beach, Huts, and Shells / If Tahiti Were Told to Me / Louis de Funès, the Exhibition.

We present them to you:

Along the Island, an Imagined Archipelago

The Îles de Lérins, like many islands, inspire the human imagination. An island, a world unto itself, is a space one reaches – or not – at the risk of the sea, a place of carefree escape, experimentation, exile, voluntary or imposed confinement, an inexhaustible source of inspiration.

Orsten Groom, Limbo

Orsten Groom is a French visual artist with a wide array of productions: painting, music, sculpture, video, and poetry. Since 2013, he has focused primarily on his pictorial works. He gives his paintings a strong materiality and great intensity by playing with brushstrokes, thickness, layering, and blending images. Limbo refers to a beyond for the souls of unbaptized children but also an intermediate state, where the blur prevails. Orsten Groom offers a variation on these themes by juxtaposing images drawn from the history of art.

Agnès Varda, Beaches, Huts, and Shells

Agnès Varda was a major filmmaker recognized for her films and documentaries. What is less known is that she also created contemporary artworks: installations, models, photographs, and video works. The Contemporary Art Center of Cannes invites you to explore her universe as an old filmmaker, a young visual artist as she described herself.

At La Malmaison, the exhibition revolves around the theme of the sea, which often inspired Agnès Varda. The exhibition at Villa Domergue allows you to discover huts, installations, images, and models around her films. As in her cinema, Agnès Varda addressed with her plastic works themes of daily life, memory, intimacy, and the universal.

If Tahiti Were Told to Me – Ginoux, Journalist and Traveler in Polynesia in the 19th Century

Polynesia is highlighted at the Musée des Explorations du Monde thanks to the collection Edmond de Ginoux de La Coche brought back from the Pacific in the 1840s. The exhibition offers an opportunity to become acquainted with the atypical personality and journey of Ginoux during a pivotal time for this region of the world. It also invites discovery of the small stories hidden behind Tahitian and Marquesan objects, reflecting Ginoux’s special relationships with Polynesians. The drawings by Adèle de Dombasle, Ginoux’s companion on his second expedition to Oceania and America, complete this travel journal.

Louis de Funès, the Exhibition

An exhibition produced by La Cinémathèque française, Paris.

The exhibition revisits the hundred roles played by Louis de Funès, whose successes are regularly watched and re-watched in France and worldwide, now celebrated by five generations of viewers.

It shows and explains the sources of inspiration and the comedic mechanisms of Louis de Funès, notably through his burlesque genius of observation that led him to the top of the box office at 50 years old. This exhibition invites you to discover the actor in all his facets through nearly 300 works. Among them are the 2CV from The Sucker, the DS from Fantômas, the Queen of Spain’s dress in The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob, but also photographs, paintings, drawings, sculptures, period documents, and film excerpts that make you want to revisit all these great classics.
