Philippe Vardon, President and spokesperson: “Our movement’s candidates will be present in all the city’s cantons as well as in those of the hinterland.”
The political movement Nissa Rebela (500 members) holds its back-to-school meeting, positioning itself as the counterpart of the Northern League across the Alps (in the last Regional elections, it was part of the South League led by Eric Bompard, Mayor of Orange). This is a preparatory meeting for upcoming electoral events where this movement, which aims to be youthful and popular, intends to assert its presence.
“We are making progress,” Philippe Vardon, a young colossus accompanied by his general secretary Benoit Loeuillet, tells us with a determined tone, “and from the 4 to 5% score in the previous consultation (in 2004), we have moved to 7 to 8% in this year’s Regional elections. In some cantons, we believe our candidates will be able to stand in the second round, whereas in other cases, we will offer our support on a case-by-case basis, seeking alliances with candidates closest to our ideas. One thing is clear for us: no to Estrosi and his allies!“
Nice Premium: Have you already designated your candidates and defined some priority points of your program?
Philippe Vardon: “This will be done in a few days, but I can already mention that we will defend our longstanding convictions: more autonomy for Nice in relation to the Department and the Region, as we are proponents of the historical concept of the County of Nice. Reinforcing our autonomy against the islamization of the city, encouraged by the Mayor for purely electoral reasons. And ultimately, a security-focused policy because, despite the declarations of our Minister-Mayor, the only certainty today is the impunity of delinquents and thugs.”
The future will tell if Philippe Vardon’s commitment, certainly not lacking in enthusiasm, will yield the desired results.
