Cantonal 2011: Patrice Benoit (candidate for Nice Democrat in the 11th canton): “We need a new momentum for a human canton.”

Latest News

Patrice Benoit is an atypical candidate, young (28 years old) and independent. A doctoral candidate in law, with a degree in administration of territorial communities, he confidently asserts his electoral slogan: “With my generation, from Tunis to Cairo via Nice, I am the candidate of the camp of the revolution of ideas”.

Born in Nice, a student at Notre-Dame School, Vernier Collรจge, then Sasserno College and Lycรฉe, I developed an early passion for city life.
In 1996, as a young teenager, I asked the mayor of Nice to create a Youth Municipal Council.

The former mayor always rejected the idea as “such a farce… leftist moreover”. In 2004, Christian ESTROSI created his Youth General Council and in 2006, Deputy Mayor Dominique ESTROSI established an experimental neighborhood youth council in Ariane.
A Children’s Municipal Council was created in 2009 by the new mayor of Nice.

Passionate about the Carnival, I experienced the “Carnivals without borders” with historian Annie SIDRO. In 1999, I won the “Mossa Prize” for miniature floats and founded the “Young Hopes” association to involve neighborhood carnivals.

His statements and program:

“As a young citizen, I am a candidate for the slogan ‘Brighten the Life of our Elders Again Through My Candidacy ‘The Canton our home, the home of Life’, the tone is set.

There is no question of tampering with the miracle of life.

7 emergency solidarity measures in the continuation of the “Solidarity 06” initiative to prevent the tragedy of loneliness and to include all ages of life:

1) Creation of a generational solidarity contract through which a young household with children living nearby, in exchange for taking care of a solitary person at home, would benefit from a rent reduction.

2) Launch a program of “solidarity student” studios at reduced rent in exchange for bi-weekly active sponsorship of an elderly person.

3) Establishment of a Solidarity Passport for high school and university students, offering a travel voucher in exchange for active, regular sponsorship of the elderly during vacations, to prevent the despair of loneliness.

5) Conceptualize intergenerational urban development to end the separation of ages in the city and current retirement homes being far from active life. The ideal would be bringing schools and retirement homes closer together.

6) County guarantee of interest-free loans for adapting the homes of the elderly (wide doors, elevators, safe bathtubs, suitable lighting) to finance remodeling their house where they could live happily.

7) Training and help with computer connectivity for the elderly.

New Ideas in a New World

There can no longer be “a dog’s life” for the animals here.

1. Prevention campaign against abandoning pets.

2. Above all, work in concertation to allow the presence of pets in retirement homes, which would in fact be the only human beings in these places of the collapse of family solidarity and the emotional misery of a dehumanized capitalist society.

Microcredits to Small Businesses

Guarantee to loans of TPE brought by the county, when bankers fail to do their job of supporting the growth of our businesses with their investments.

A Defender of Azurean Businesses in Brussels (DEAB)
