We have received this statement from the National Front which we are publishing in the interest of ensuring free and pluralistic information.
It goes without saying that all responsibility lies with its author.
On the night of Sunday, January 30 to Monday, January 31, Mr. Bruno Ligonie, a National Front candidate in the 8th district of Nice, received a series of 8 messages on his mobile phone threatening him with death following the announcement of his candidacy published that very morning in Nice-Matin.
In these same messages, other National Front candidates from the Alpes-Maritimes are also explicitly and nominally threatened, Lydia Schรฉnardi (departmental secretary and candidate) and Michel Cotta (head of the Nice agglomeration and candidate).
A complaint was immediately filed against the author of the threats, the individual in question being perfectly identified and unfavorably known to the Police and Justice services.
The FN, defending freedom of expression, strongly condemns these actions intended to intimidate and questions the reasons prompting some individuals to make such threats.
Who is directing the author of these messages? Who has an interest in seeing FN candidates withdraw their candidacy?
Our movement is outraged by this toxic atmosphere and stands against these increasingly frequent instances of violence.
Moreover, it reminds that an FN candidate will never give in to intimidation.
