The first phase of renovation and expansion, inside the center and the silo parking, was completed in October 2016. The second phase was launched consecutively and will end in mid-2019.
The construction is in full swing, tackling the south and west sides.
Mediterranean-themed central hall, new technologies… CAP 3000 has significantly changed since the beginning of the works in November 2014. Thanks to Altarea Cogedim, it maintains its reputation as the largest shopping center in Europe in terms of renovation and expansion. On a good track, the works continue on the south and west sides.
โa mini city within the cityโ
Roch-Charles Rosier, director of the shopping center, describes his establishment, which he sees growing and transforming, as โa mini city within the city.โ The expansion and renovation works include a new space with a view of the sea and the beach. The beach will be completely sand-covered and equipped with a pier to accommodate yachts. Between the center and the sea, no more cars. The south side will be entirely reserved for pedestrians with an open-air section in front of the establishment. Only bicycles will be allowed on the bike path.
Expanding from 83,000 to 135,000 mยฒ, the center will be able to house twice as many shops, increasing from 150 to 300, resulting in 1,600 new jobs. Additionally, a โpremiumโ section will be created where higher-end stores and services (champagne and caviar bar) will be offered.
CAP 3000 is named โfor capacity 3000, capacity in terms of parking spaces,โ says Roch-Charles Rosier. It currently has 2,700 parking spaces and will increase to 4,200.
The completion of the works is expected by the end of June 2019, and if everything goes as planned, the inauguration will take place in September.
