On the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the Death March, the City of Nice and the Yad Vashem Nice Cรดte dโAzur Committee are organizing the exhibitions “Memory of the Shoah, Nice 1941-1944” at the Raoul Mille Library.
At the Raoul Mille Library, “Memory of the Shoah, Nice 1941-1944” brings together two exhibitions on the history of deportations and the Shoah, presented by witnesses from this period as well as mediators from the Provence-Alpes-Cรดte d’Azur Region: Camp des Milles, a regional memory by the Provence-Alpes-Cรดte d’Azur Region, and The Jews of France in the Shoah and “Disobey to Save” by the National Office of Veterans and War Victims.
In partnership with the Rectorate of the Nice Academy, 35 classes, or over 900 students, will participate in guided tours of the exhibition followed by discussions with witnesses. Primary schools, middle schools, and high schools will thus be able to deepen their historical knowledge and enrich their civic education.
Meetings and exchanges with Holocaust witnesses are organized on Tuesday, the 23rd from 5 PM to 7 PM (Testimonies from Auschwitz camp survivors), Thursday, the 25th from 6 PM to 8 PM (Testimonies from children saved by the Marcel Network), and Tuesday, January 30th from 6 PM to 8 PM (Testimonies from children of the Righteous Among the Nations).
