Carros: Superb Opening Night of CinéAlma

Latest News

The 9th edition of the CinéAlma Festival in Carros began with two major changes: Charles Scibetta handed over the role of programmer to Hubert Coronna and Laura Scibetta, just like Cathy Fanfin, the historic president of the Cinéactions association, co-organizer of the festival, who stepped down to pass the baton to Françoise Lecouffe.

But, after having been the originator of the festival, Charles Scibetta returned this year as the mayor of the city. Finally, as the Sicilian origins of the founder and director would suggest, even in Carros and at CinéAlma, “everything must change so that nothing changes!”

After this preamble, we must immediately say that the 9th edition of the Festival promises to be of high quality.

The film by Jaime Rosales, present in the theater, “La belle jeunesse (Hermosa juventud)” struck us with its screenplay that analyzes the social situation of a disoriented youth searching for identity. The intensity of the screenplay and the ability of all the actors (both leading and supporting roles) to make their despair real gave this work its letters of authenticity.

We eagerly await the continuation of this selection of films from different Mediterranean countries.

On the brink of a decade, which will fall next year, it must be said that this festival has already reached the threshold of success: Strengthening exchanges with other festivals, such as Rome, Carthage, Tangier, Tetouan, Geneva, allows for the enrichment and diversification of programming and international outreach.

We couldn’t ask for more.
