The Xylella fastidiosa bacterium has been detected in the Saint-Isidore district.
The bacterium has already devastated thousands of olive trees in the Apulia region of Italy and in Corsica, with dramatic economic consequences for olive growers and flora professionals.
This confirmed case highlights the urgency of the situation to curb the spread of this bacterium, which could have very serious consequences for our farmers and plant sales professionals.
Christian Estrosi is urging the Government to immediately take all measures appropriate to such a situation and calls for state solidarity in addressing this crisis.
A meeting with the Minister of Ecology is scheduled for next week.
In the meantime, municipal services will implement a system to inform and support all concerned professionals and assist them in dealing with the consequences of this epidemic.
