As part of the Children’s Parliament, Member of Parliament Rudy SALLES visited Saint-Exupéry School to meet Junior Representative Juliette REY, who will represent the 3rd district of Alpes-Maritimes at the National Assembly, next Saturday, June 8th.
After providing a civic class about the role of the MP and how parliament functions, many curious exchanges took place between the students and the MP. The commitment of this mixed primary class, supervised by Mrs. LAROUSSE, resulted in drafting a bill.
The object chosen for this text is the introduction of a “Gender Equality Week” in schools. Over the course of the year, these students concluded there is too much discrimination in many areas between men and women. Thus, they came up with the idea of dedicating a week to equality between boys and girls, establishing egalitarian relationships to foster better cooperation and promote values of respect, sharing, and friendship.
Rudy Salles was delighted with this egalitarian and fraternal proposal: “This text fits perfectly into my parliamentary work related to the defense of the symbols and values of the Republic. On June 8th, I will be alongside the junior representative of the 3rd district, Juliette REY, to defend this proposal.” A beneficial and enriching experience for these children. Introducing youth to social issues offers a different perspective. Gender inequality affects the legal, social, and political fields alike. It’s therefore difficult to change certain mindsets. But these students will strive to contribute their part towards a more just society.
