Well, what a novelty: appeals have been filed against the election of Christian Estrosi as president of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (PACA) region. According to consistent sources, they were filed by FN deputy Marion Maréchal-Le Pen, Socialist deputy Patrick Mennucci, and an individual.
These appeals were inevitable and… couldn’t have come at a better time.
In fact, they were anticipated and expected, and were being discussed in local political circles; the opposite would have been surprising.
This will allow Christian Estrosi not to resign from his positions as deputy and mayor while administrative bodies decide on the matter.
“Since the election (of Mr. Estrosi as president of the region) is not definitively validated, the deadline concerning the accumulation of mandates is postponed,” his chief of staff Anthony Borré told AFP on Monday.
The question remains how Christian Estrosi will manage to hold four mandates simultaneously, which still require a lot of involvement and dedication, and a physical presence in geographically distant locations.
There is no doubt about Christian Estrosi’s commitment, even dedication, to his public offices; however, a day is comprised of 24 hours, even for him.
And as Albert Einstein reminded us, “Success is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.”
So, it’s going to require some sweat…
