If today’s kings had a jester, he would be called Christophe.
An entertainer who, through laughter, throws his truths in the face of the world. A Scapin with delightful tricks that silences the mountebanks of our century. A Robin Hood with a red nose who steals from the moralizers to give back to the revelers. A jester worthy of the name, with biting texts, a quick tongue… and rhythm in his veins! And quite a rhythm indeed, made of guitar, drums, accordion, and horn. A rhythm that swings, rocks, pops, and shatters our idea of humor. Live, accompanied by his Group, he starts singing to knock us out in no time… A real comic show that alternates stand-up, sketches, and songs, “Debout!” is all that, and it works. Clearly, Christophe Alévêque’s only holiness lies in his name…
After studies as long as they were soporific, Christophe Alévêque’s career began with a total lack of willingness to enter the workforce. He needed adventure and gave himself a choice between two possibilities: crossing the Atlantic by oar or diving into comedy. After a few seconds of intense reflection, he figured it was certainly less tiring to write and perform than to row.
Brave but not reckless, he started with “Les stagiaires,” an energetic and offbeat duo, which lived up to its name until the end.
Starting from the year 1992, with a tired liver, he devoted himself solely to developing a solo show with the help of director Philippe Sohier. Very quickly, the show took shape, his personality became more refined, and after a year in Paris, he got noticed. He embarked on a French tour and at the same time joined the team of “Rien à Cirer” on France Inter where he dealt with current affairs with vitriol and painted satirical-humorous portraits of the guest, mixing in the adventures of “pupuce,” the key character of his show.
Subsequently, collaborations followed with Michel Drucker, Thierry Ardisson, and also with the team of “nulle part ailleurs.”
Then came the birth of his second show “Même pas peur” at the Théâtre Grévin from September to December 98. A show that dealt with everyday worries such as: couple life, mobile phones, computers, the nightmares of bank overdrafts, the benefits of sports, singles’ nights out in clubs, childbirth from the father’s perspective, and the uncertainties of the end of the century. A major national tour during which he took advantage of many hours on the train to start writing film scripts that producers commissioned from him: “copains copines,” “Jouons ensemble,” “Le fleuve sans fin.” He also starred in several films between 2002 and 2004, “L’Ami du jardin” by Jean-Louis Bouchaud, “Les perchistes” by Antonio and Killy Olivares, “Tout pour l’oseille” by Bertrand Van Effenterre, and “Nos amis les flics” directed by Bob Swain.
In 2004, a new One Man Show while continuing on France 2 and Europe 1 in Laurent Ruquier’s shows “On a tout essayé” and “On va s’gêner.”
In 2007, “Debout!” brings the house down!
