Closing evening of the Italian Film Days at the Espace Magnan

Latest News

In 1974, the Italian Cinema Days were born at the MJC Magnan under the impetus of some enthusiasts, Jean A. Gili, Antonio Capalbi, and Richard Desnoux.

Led by Jean A. Gili, an ardent and undeniable specialist, the “Days” hosted actors and directors to present their films and share stories about Italian cinema in a friendly atmosphere.

Thirty editions later, despite the difficulties that Italian cinema has faced since then—structural changes in the audiovisual landscape, a decrease in production, reduction in the number of cinemas, weakness in distribution, and a decline in attendance—the “Days” continue, more than ever, to support and defend Italian cinema.

For although the idea of a deep crisis due to the lack of successors to the great masters is widely spread, young Italian cinema is very much alive, and lacks neither ideas nor talent! The next generation is here!

This 2015 edition allowed the discovery of 13 Italian films, most of which were previously unseen in France, a Youth Public film, a specially created storytelling show for this event, the flavors and culture of Italy, as well as meetings with Italian directors and actors.

Tonight’s closing evening, in the presence of private and institutional partners, includes the presentation of the Audience Awards and the Young Jury Prize, followed by the screening of Davide Minnella’s first film, “Ci vorrebbe un miracolo.”

A comedy, a docu-fiction about ecology and the disappearance of species in the Mediterranean, particularly due to overfishing, which allows us to discover the daily life of the inhabitants of Puglia.

In the presence of director Davide Minnella.
