Already, initial results are being presented following the launch last March of the research program on jellyfish proliferation, supported by the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes.

A prediction model for jellyfish invasion has been developed thanks to the study of their beachings on the Azure Coast beaches over the past 30 years.

The seasonal arrival of jellyfish on our coastline, most frequently Pelagia noctiluca, provides an opportunity to refine the system, based on readings taken from sensor-equipped robots.

This program represents a real innovation that would allow, as early as next summer, the dissemination of true “jellyfish weather reports” on the General Council’s website, in order to inform coastal municipalities, local newspapers, and all holidaymakers, and to significantly improve the comfort and quality of swimming.
