As every year, the live nativity scene will take place at Place Rossetti in Old Nice with santons as well as live animals present on site from 5 PM to 8 PM. Several activities are planned such as wool spinning, traditional songs from the County of Nice, story readings…
The New Features
The MIRANDA Company will offer, every day from 5 PM to 8 PM, four short theatrical scenes related to the theme “The Niçoise Christmas”,
The Gospel singer Sophie GELLER will give a concert on Wednesday, December 24th and Thursday, December 25th between 5 PM and 7 PM.
A Represented Moment
The Nativity has often been depicted. It is known that the nativity scene was invented in the 13th century by Saint Francis of Assisi and then developed in Europe. Indeed, the Niçoise nativity scene, or Presèpi, which was on display year-round in all households, is similar to the original nativity scene. It consists of Baby Jesus, Joseph, Mary, the ox, and the donkey. Its figures are made of wood, papier-mâché, or wax.
