Going to the theater is a voluntary act, driven by the desire to satisfy the intellect, artistic passion, the love of literature, words, and wit.
It’s about discovery: the texts, the authors, the actors, and the productions, some of which are bold and challenge both the spectator and the seasoned connoisseur of the stage.
It’s about being moved: by the performance of artists and actors, the monologues, feeling touched in one’s soul and sensitivity by the intrigue, the drama, or the comedy.
It’s about entertainment: escaping daily life in favor of dreams, enjoying this ephemeral pleasure that lasts only for the duration of the performance, where the spectator forgets their daily troubles.
The theater is a direct contact between the audience and the actors. It’s life in its immediacy. The actors can’t cheat; you don’t redo the scene like in the cinema, and there lies the richness of theater. The actors have only one chance to touch the spectator’s emotions, laughter, or sensitivity.
About thirty performances are being offered for the 2015-2016 season at the Thรฉรขtre Princesse Grace in Monaco. The season will start on October 8 with “Angรจle” by Marcel Pagnol and will conclude on May 10, 2016, with “The Mother” by Florent Zeller.
A whole debate on mother-son relationships. Between these two events, the public is invited to vibrant, dramatic, comic, caustic, and ironic days and evenings.
Who said theater was boring? Discovering the season of Thรฉรขtre Princesse Grace is an opportunity to prove them wrong.
