World Films by Richard Prompt (2002-2004, 1h30)
In the presence of the artists Arnaud Maguet, Richard Prompt, and Julien TibériImprovisation by Finger on You (Richard Prompt, Arnaud Maguet, and Julien Tibéri) for analog synthesizers, stylophone, theremin, four-track cassette Porta Studio, and percussion.
In his backroom, for a long time, Richard Prompt has been standing by, ready to capture the precise moment from the mass-media flow.
In his Betamax memory, he compiles, one after another, the fragments of what we are sometimes led to mistake for life.
Artisanally, he reshapes his own flow, models it, sequence after sequence, with no chance of regret. Once the tape is full, another follows to continue this meta-film, a little silent monster born from the big talker, telling only its own process.
For one evening, a voice will be given to it, triple and electric, improvised and discordant. It won’t explain anything, it won’t illustrate anything. It will just add another layer to the story of the falsification of History.
