Coronavirus: Christian Estrosi calls for the mobilization and solidarity of all residents

In this unprecedented situation, the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, places the continuity of public service at the forefront.

“I have proposed a continuity plan to the Prefect of the Alpes Maritimes to ensure the proper functioning of services identified as priorities: health, assistance and support for vulnerable groups, safety, transport, cleanliness, collection, water, public services, civil status, road safety operations or even sanitation,” he stated, before detailing them in a note.

Firstly, in schools and nurseries:

  • The City of Nice will provide its schools and staff to the teachers, as well as the catering service, to ensure the care of the children of healthcare personnel working in hospitals, in town, or in medical social establishments. They will be welcomed in groups of 8 to 10 by teachers, starting Monday.

– The early childhood teams will be able to reinforce the teams of hospital nurseries.

– It has been proposed to extend this provision to public security personnel (national, municipal police, and gendarmerie), firefighters, staff in charge of protecting our elders in nursing homes, and staff ensuring the urban transport network.

Special attention will be given to the elderly:

– Since external visits are no longer allowed, nursing homes managed by the CCAS have been equipped with several computers, screens, and dedicated internet connections, allowing our seniors to communicate with their families through video communication services.

– Private establishments will be regularly contacted by the City’s services to check they lack nothing and to provide support if necessary.

Closure of public establishments:

– All public establishments in confined spaces will be closed from tomorrow morning: gymnasiums, libraries, museums, swimming pools, animanice centers, conservatories, art schools, student houses, etc.

The operation of the administration will be adapted:

  • The City of Nice will prioritize, as much as possible, telework, especially for the 4,000 service agents who have children under 16 and who are not part of the strictly priority services. The most vulnerable agents may, after consultation with preventive medicine, stay at home.

– Based on the volunteering of healthy agents, a reserve will be created to ensure the continuity of priority services.

In transport:

  • The tramway, which provides access to hospitals, laboratories, and general practitioners, will be maintained.

  • Cruise ships, ferries, and yachting will be prohibited in the ports of the Metropolis. Medical control upon disembarkation for individuals will be required.
