The entire political groups of the Parliament are calling for a massive investment plan to address the economic consequences of the health crisis. One of the suggested responses is to have an ambitious European budget for the period of 2021-2027.
The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, plans to push in this direction during the summit of the heads of state and government next Thursday.
Members of Parliament are expected to approve a 3 billion euro package aimed at the healthcare sector. This funding should also provide food aid to the most vulnerable people. Finally, these funds will also be used to mitigate losses for farmers and fishermen.
