Several areas are affected by the intervention of the regional authority, which wants to avoid at all costs a total lockdown that would cripple the Azorean economy. Renaud Muselier, its president, already has his eyes set on his reappointment and has stepped up in this difficult situation.
Do everything to keep the 55 high schools open
Testing will be offered to 30,600 students in 55 high schools as soon as classes resume. A similar operation will take place in university sites that are still open during the holidays, as well as in CROUS university residences, involving 40,000 students.
Providing aid with FFP2 masks
The president of the Provence-Alpes-Cรดte d’Azur region wishes to make the wearing of FFP2 masks widespread in areas where the epidemic is surging. He believes they are “more filtering and more effective, and will help limit the spread of the virus.”
There will be a delivery of 40,000 FFP2 masks to the Metropolis of Nice and another 40,000 to the Alpes-Maritimes department this week.
Next week, an additional 200,000 FFP2 masks will be distributed to the municipalities of the Alpes-Maritimes, hospitals, health professionals, and businesses, in cooperation with the Regional Health Agency and business associations.
Accelerating vaccination
In the next two weeks, 35,000 doses will arrive in addition to the 3,000 promised by Olivier Veran, the Minister of Health.
Free regional transport for vaccination
Free rides will be available upon presentation of an ID card (for those over 75 years old), a professional card (for healthcare workers), or a prescription (for high-risk individuals).
Finally, next week, the Region’s Vaccinobus will be made available to the Alpes-Maritimes to help bring the vaccine to rural areas.
For businesses that will have to close on weekends due to the lockdown, the Region has replenished aid schemes with an additional 51 million euros to address the urgent needs of these companies.
