–Equestrian Show “THE WOMAN and THE HORSE”
An equestrian show full of elegance and grace will pay homage to female riders through various scenes presented between the races. Five performances at the foot of the stands will be offered to spectators, who will enjoy both horse racing at a trot and a unique entertainment.
-Homage paid to Women… and to man’s greatest conquest
The most noble conquest that man has ever made is that of this proud and spirited animal, which shares with him the hardships of war and the glory of combat (…)
It is a creature that renounces its own being to exist only through the will of another, which it can even anticipate; that through the speed and precision of its movements, expresses and executes, feels as much as desired, and responds as much as one wishes; which, yielding unreservedly, refuses nothing, serves with all its strength, exceeds, and even dies to obey.
After centuries during which men dominated, leaving only a few intrepid pioneers such as Joan of Arc or Catherine de Medici to stand out, women now excel in all equestrian disciplines. Between the horse and its rider, a rapport, sometimes even an osmosis, emerges.
The show “The Woman and the Horse,” full of grace and delicacy, beautifully pays homage to the equestrian art and vividly highlights the harmony between the rider and her mount.
Five scenes both romantic and spirited, along with a very beautiful finale, will be presented:
Scene 1 – GARROCHA
Isabelle BARRALLIE, who has already captivated the public at the Hippodrome and won the 2007 national competition of young equestrian talents in Montferrat, will present a Garrocha number inspired by Spanish horsemanship. The garrocha is a long stick used by Vaqueros – cattle herders – to move herds and sort animals.
Scene 2 – WORK AT LIBERTY
Viola BUEKING, a talented German rider, student of Jean-Charles Andrieux, and 2010 laureate of Young European Talents in Montferrat, will perform with her Lipizzans to the sound of a violin (music by John Williams) in a work at liberty number, inspired by the circus, particularly intense and moving.
Scenes 3 and 4 – IBERIAN COMPETITION DRESSAGE
Carole MARTI, international dressage rider, twice European MCI (Master of Iberian Horse) champion, will present two scenes with her champions Largo and Horace. Her mentor is none other than the great Portuguese champion Carlos Pinto, currently artistic director of the cavalry at Puy du Fou.
Scene 5 – DRESSAGE
Chrystal SAMANI, daughter of the famous jockey Henri Samani, a horse enthusiast since her early childhood, will present a magnificent dressage demonstration. She was taught by one of the most remarkable riders of our time: Manuel Jorge Oliveira.
FINALE
A finale bringing together all the artists, horses, and riders will brilliantly conclude this equestrian show.
