No third victory for Marianne Vos in this 7th edition of the race By le Tour. The triple world champion was defeated at the line by the British Lizzie Deignan (TREK), who benefited from the return of her teammate 500 meters from the finish.
The race unfolded under the impetus of the world champion, Annemiek van Vleuten (MITCHELTON SCOTT), at the start of the Rimiez climb in the second circuit lap. Only six riders managed to follow the impressive pace of the time trial specialist. Among them was Marianne Vos (CCC), who was viewed as a formidable competitor. Elisa Longo Borghini, on the other hand, worked hard for her Trek teammate, sprinter Lizzie Deignan. Meanwhile, Kasia Niewiadoma and Demi Vollering were somewhat isolated and did not have the opportunity to create a surprise in the last kilometers.
In the end, it was the British rider Lizzie Deignan (TREK) who won by a narrow margin ahead of Vos and Demi Vollering.
