As the new lockdown began this Thursday at midnight, health authorities lament a significant increase in the number of positive cases detected.
According to the report provided by Santรฉ Publique France, 250 new deaths in hospitals were reported this Thursday, October 29, compared to 244 the previous day.
This brings the total number of deaths related to the epidemic in France to 36,020. Of these, 24,659 deaths occurred in hospitals and 11,361 in nursing homes and medical-social establishments, whose data are not updated daily.
The number of Covid-19 patients hospitalized in intensive care or critical care is now at 3,147, with 395 new admissions since the previous day and 2,278 over the past seven days. Taking discharges into account, the number of Covid-19 patients currently in intensive care has increased by 102 in the last 24 hours.
The number of intensive care beds, which was already raised from 5,100 to 5,800 after the first epidemic wave, had risen to 6,400 at the beginning of the week and is expected to soon exceed 7,000, according to Health Minister Olivier Vรฉran.
