Since March 1, there have been 28,108 COVID-19 related deaths (+483), including 17,466 deaths in hospitals and 10,642 deaths in social and medico-social establishments.
The General Directorate of Health (DGS) has not been able to provide a reason for this significant increase, stating only that all daily reports were the result of an “update of data transmitted by the ARS (regional health agencies) to Public Health France,” the national health agency.
On the other hand, hospitalizations and admissions to intensive care continue to decrease.
19,361 people (vs 22,569 a week ago) are hospitalized for a COVID-19 infection and 152 new admissions (vs 253 a week ago) have been recorded in the past 24 hours.
2,087 patients suffering from a severe form of COVID-19 (vs 2,776 a week ago) are hospitalized in intensive care. 24 new severe cases have been admitted to intensive care (vs 38 a week ago). The balance remains negative in intensive care, with 45 fewer COVID-19 patients compared to yesterday.
Since the beginning of the epidemic, 98,569 people have been hospitalized, including nearly 17,500 in intensive care. 61,213 people have returned home.
