Covid-19: more than 4,000 new cases, the positivity rate continues to rise

More than 4,000 new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded over the past 24 hours, according to data from the Directorate General of Health (DGS) on Monday, September 7. The new cases amount to exactly 4,203, according to a statement. This figure is lower compared to the previous three days, where new cases ranged from 7,000 to nearly 9,000.

Fifty-eight new clusters of infection have been detected, a number that remains stable compared to the previous day. The positivity rate (the proportion of positive cases out of all those tested over 7 days) continues to increase: it reached 5.1% on Monday, compared to 4.9% on Sunday.

Twenty-five new deaths have been recorded in hospitals, bringing the total to 20,250. In nursing homes and other social and medico-social establishments, the latest count, dated September 2, is 10,476. The total number of deaths is 30,726 people.

Sixty-eight departments are classified as being in a situation of moderate or high vulnerability.
