This Sunday, the government announced its intention to replace the health pass with a vaccination pass. If the bill is adopted, it could come into effect at the beginning of next year.
“To win this race against time, we must further accelerate the vaccination campaign,” emphasized Jean Castex, the Prime Minister. To counter the spread of the omicron variant, France is banking on vaccination. The Prime Minister announced the plan to transform the health pass into a vaccination pass.
In this context, a bill is expected to be proposed at the beginning of January. Thus, the government considers extending the health pass to the workplace, similar to the health or restaurant sectors.
“We cannot prevent people from working if they are not vaccinated, but we can require them to take a test. This is one of the questions that need to be addressed,” specified Olivier Vรฉran, the Health Minister. รlisabeth Borne, the Labor Minister, will meet with social partners to discuss the issue this Monday.
“We are committed to placing the burden on the unvaccinated, as the critical and intensive care units in our hospitals are mainly filled with unvaccinated people,” asserted Jean Castex. In France, around 6 million people are not vaccinated.
Over the last week, an average of 5,200 new cases have been detected. This Sunday, 15,528 people are hospitalized. As of December 19, 19,217,982 people have received a booster dose and 52,509,598 people have received a first injection.
Our best weapon, our only weapon, in reality, is vaccination, and now vaccination with 3 doses.
The campaign will accelerate and expand in the coming weeks.
