Tomorrow evening, the President of the Republic will clarify the health situation.
As expected, we should not anticipate returning to a “normal” situation; the government’s strategy aims to be gradual, and it will rather involve relaxations and adjustments.
Unsprisingly, the first deadline is set for December 1st and should materialize through the reopening of shops in exchange for a more stringent new protocol. The president is aware of the efforts made and is committed to the value of work, but some establishments, such as bars and restaurants, will continue to face restrictions.
There is no question of saying goodbye to the exemption certificate for travel; it will remain in effect after December 1st.
Nothing has been said about the reopening of cultural and religious venues, nor the possibility of the curfew returning.
A second update is expected just before the end-of-year holidays, particularly regarding freedom of movement, as canceling the festivities would have an unprecedented political cost.
The third phase of the easing of restrictions will occur in January. No concrete announcements have been made so far, but it’s during this period that bars and restaurants might consider raising the steel shutters. The option of February 1st, 2021, is also under discussion.
