Covid-19: The number of patients in critical care is decreasing, a decline that goes hand in hand with the vaccination campaign.

Covid-19 remains very present, but for almost a month, it has been declining in healthcare facilities. This Monday, hospitals are hosting 19,701 patients with Covid-19, nearly 3050 fewer than last Monday. In the past 24 hours, 260 patients have been admitted.

The reduction in the number of patients continues in critical care services as well: 3,496 are hospitalized as of Monday. On Monday, May 17, there were 4,186. Over the past 24 hours, 66 patients have been admitted to these services. These figures have not been this low since February 28.

In hospitals, 62 people have died in the past 24 hours.

Approximately 2,230 new cases have been recorded in 24 hours (a very low number as usual on Mondays), averaging 12,717 per day over the past week (including two days that were overestimated).

As of May 24, more than 33,000,000 injections have been administered, according to the Directorate General of Health. Since the start of the vaccination campaign in France, 23,335,997 people have received at least one injection (34.8% of the total population and 44.4% of the adult population), and 9,738,741 people have received two injections (14.5% of the total population and 18.5% of the adult population), based on still provisional data.
