One record chases another: on one hand, the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, reports 66,000 first-time vaccinations, a number not reached since October 1st. On the other hand, no fewer than 332,252 new cases of infections have been reported in the last 24 hours, according to figures released by Santé publique France.

This surge keeps the pressure on hospitals, which admitted 2,483 new Covid patients on Wednesday, including 396 in critical care. Admissions continue to outnumber discharges, with 20,688 infected patients currently being treated (+502), of which 3,695 are in critical care (+30).

Health facilities have also recorded 246 deaths, bringing the virus’s human toll to 124,809 deaths.

This worsening health situation, coupled with fierce debates over the vaccine pass, is accompanied by a rebound in initial dose injections: the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, reported 66,000 first-time vaccinations on Wednesday, a number not reached since October 1st.
