Long awaited with a multitude of secrets surrounding the film, “The Da Vinci Code” by Ron Howard (The Cinderella Man, A Beautiful Mind) will open the next Cannes Festival which will take place from May 17 to 28, 2006.
Tom Hanks (the symbology professor), Audrey Tautou (the cryptologist), and Jean Reno (the head of French police) play the main roles in this adaptation of the esoteric thriller that has sold more than 30 million copies in about forty languages, including four million in French.
The Louvre and Saint-Sulpice Church in Paris are among the key locations of the novel and film’s plot.
“The Da Vinci Code,” produced by Brian Grazer and John Calley for Columbia Pictures and Imagine Entertainment, will be released in theaters in France on the day of its presentation at Cannes and on May 19 worldwide.
