It will be on Monday, November 26 at 7:30 p.m. that, as part of Documentary Month, organized by Clemi de Nice, the film will be screened and followed by a debate hosted by Marie-Pierre Courtellemont, senior reporter at France 3, and a specialist in judicial matters.
This is a great opportunity to see the film, released at the Cannes Film Festival, but above all to meet this highly media-savvy character, who will truly shine on screen in every sense! Intriguing, enigmatic, controversial, admired by some, abhorred by others, the eminent lawyer cannot leave one indifferent. Jacques Vergès exerts a fascination over the public, having defended the most indefensible causes. The film by the director of More or The Von Bülow Mystery explores sometimes murky pasts including his dedication to the FLN cause, all while serving as a historian. Yet with this documentary, “a half-century of secret history and terrifying connections,” Schroeder also delivers a spy thriller. Suffice it to say that an exciting evening is in store, with a film that will undoubtedly raise many questions! As for the debate that may not completely clear the opacity surrounding the character, it will undoubtedly be passionate and intriguing, matching the uniqueness of Master Vergès. And until the end, we may wonder who will have… the final cut…
