On the occasion of the Eco-Carnival this Wednesday, February 28, many children gathered at the House of the Environment to have fun through various workshops on the theme of the carnival.
2 p.m. The atmosphere is already very festive at the House of the Environment. On the Eco-Carnival’s agenda: several entertainment workshops for the kids using recycled materials. Because here, we have fun while being responsible.
At the entrance, some colorful stands welcome them. On one side, those for creation: face painting and comics. On the other, traditional wooden game activities.
When pleasure and creativity come together
The jovial atmosphere is reminiscent of the Nice Carnival. Both parents and children join in the fun. One thing is for sure: everyone is having a great time! Like Sarah, 9 years old. She just came out of the face painting stand: “I came with my aunt and chose the design, but not the colors. I asked for a simple makeup because I don’t like it when it’s overloaded. She did it really well. It’s very beautiful, I love it a lot!“, she exclaims, her face carefully painted with blue flowers.
Jasmine Taibbe runs the comics/manga workshop. It involves decorating recycled objects: “The children color and cut out superhero stickers. Then, they stick them on recycled paper and DVD/CD cases that we also recycled. They are very attentive, and I think they love the concept“, explains the young multidisciplinary artist.
The activity is a success according to Laura, a very dedicated little creator: “I really like coloring and cutting out my stickers. It’s fun and easy to do! I will play with my box at home“.
Combining the useful with the pleasantโฆ
The Eco-Carnival extends inside the House of the Environment. At the reception, on the left, Merryl Bargis guides her apprentices in crafting their masks with recycled materials: “The aim is to make a zero-waste carnival costume. We used egg cartons to make their masks and toilet paper rolls to create their maracas in which we will put rice and lentils. The children can paint them as they wish. The advantage of this activity is that they can reproduce it at home with their own waste, making it fun and valuable“, reports the educator.
Among these little artisans is Raphaรซl, captivated by the idea: “I love it, it’s so much fun to make masks and I love painting them too! I’ll wear mine at the end,” he says, scissors in hand.
Eco-Carnival: a story of transmission
The Eco-Carnival is now a tradition. Organized each year by the House of the Environment, the event allows the little ones to celebrate the Nice Carnival in an environmentally respectful approach. It’s an opportunity for them to have fun and unleash their imagination while being made aware of current environmental issues.
