EFS inaugurates its new blood donation center in Nice.

This Thursday marked the official inauguration of the blood donation center in the Jean Médecin neighborhood. A very special event attended by the mayor, Christian Estrosi, and the president of the French Blood Establishment (EFS), François Toujas. A look back in images at the presentation of the new strategic location of the donation center.

It is a special day for the EFS. The Nice donation center has officially moved from its usual location (at the TNL shopping center) to the Jean Médecin neighborhood, in a renovated old daycare center offering more space. This project has been highly anticipated by everyone, especially since the July 14, 2016, attacks in Nice.

Around 3pm, about twenty people gathered in the heart of the Jean Médecin district to attend the inauguration.

After the arrival of the Mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, he spoke, followed by the president of the EFS, François Toujas. Both thanked the doctors and all the people who volunteered for blood donations offered to patients.

The work lasted two years. The number of donors and donations in Nice has continually increased year after year. 750,000 euros were invested by the EFS for the transformation of the premises.

Launched in 2019, the EFS project “Innovadon” aims to create a new experience, notably with the internet connection provided to donors. The objective being to create a sense of well-being and a “home-like” atmosphere.

Once the concerned donor has completed the questionnaire provided at the reception, they will head to the doctor’s office for a preliminary interview to ensure that the donation is safe for both them and the recipient.

In the corridors of the house, there are insignias and small courtesy messages written on the walls. You can read “Donner son sang, it’s NICE!” or “Enjoy this well-deserved break”.

A cafeteria, or “Pause A”, is available. After a blood donation, donors can rest for about twenty minutes and hydrate. They will also be offered a snack.

The visit concludes at the entrance with the message wall where everyone is welcome to write a note of thanks to all who participated in this innovative project.
