Quality music programming, hot sand, and maximum decibels, the electronic beaches are back in Cannes. For six years, this festival has livened up Cannes’ nights once a week during the summer, with compelling arguments in terms of pricing and artists.
For the 2013 edition, the electro pioneer VITALIC will kick things off on July 3rd. Dj VITALIC will present a truly original sound and light show. Staged by the collective 1024 ARCHITECTURE, this explosive show of lights and sounds promises to illuminate the Beaches.
The tenth anniversary of the English label Crosstown Rebels will be celebrated on July 10 with its founder Damien Lazarus accompanied by the Canadian duo Art Department. On July 17, Bass Music will be spotlighted. A concept particularly appreciated by a younger audience. Dubstep, drum&bass, and hip hop, Pendulum, Gramatik, Son Of Kick, and My E.T. will transport partygoers to another galaxy. Another universe, another genre with the evening of July 31.
Females will take center stage as the artists will be exclusively female. Magda, Miss Kittin, Nastia, and Chloรฉ, the new face of the electronic scene. For the closing evening, the sound of the Caribbean will blow over the Croisette with the “Electropicale” session of the group “Major Lazer”. They are expected to deliver a more dancefloor-oriented sound that will appeal to the widest audience. Official after-parties will also be organized at the Sun7 club for night owls from midnight to 5 a.m.
An essential program on the French Riviera, the Electronic Beaches do not just draw from the current musical landscape, and program a few established names, discoveries, and local producers. This festival declares a strong identity: “to offer you a good-natured, friendly party, true to a certain summertime and Mediterranean dolce vita” as explained by the Panda06 collective, organizer of the electronic beaches.
