The 100th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Versailles officially marks the end of hostilities with Germany.

This June 28th concluded the centenary celebrations of the Great War, a terrible moment in our history, but a moment of great glory for our country.

At the Villa Massรฉna, in the presence of Prefect Gonzales, the Mayor of Nice presented everyone who contributed to the centenary celebrations of the 1918 Armistice with a reproduction of the commemorative medal given to the families of soldiers, whose relics are preserved in the Monument aux Morts.

On this occasion, Christian Estrosi wanted to remind us that “this war had a dual significance for Nice. Of course, it was about the blood shed alongside our allies. But it is also this war that integrated us into the nation, we who had become French barely 50 years earlier through a formal treaty and a peaceful plebiscite.”
