The protest movement by staff, who are highlighting a tense situation, has resonated with the two communist councilors of the departmental community.
As the trade unions point out, the main cause of the protest is the lack of resources.
For Francis Tujague and Valรฉrie Tomassini: “This lack of resources, compounded by the fact that the residents are increasingly older and less autonomous, risks being further intensified by the implementation of the decree adopted in 2016 on the convergence of dependency rates.”
They fear that “the staff, already in a state of professional distress, will be on the front line to absorb this new shockwave. However, there can be no well-being of the residents without the well-being of those who take care of them.”
The conclusion? The departmental council members direct their message to the department: “It is urgent that institutions are finally given the resources to satisfactorily meet the needs. Our department, where the point value used as a basis for calculating financial allocations to institutions places it in the lower range nationally, must itself commit to a greater recognition of this issue.”
