Gathered this Sunday at the Jazz Club Le Shapko in Nice, Éric Ciotti launched the group “Les Niçoises avec Ciotti.” The event was marked by the announcement of Zara Boutayeb joining the municipal list and the presentation of several measures concerning the protection of women.

This Sunday in the late afternoon, around 250 people attended the Jazz Club Le Shapko in Nice. On this occasion, Éric Ciotti officially launched the group “Les Niçoises avec Ciotti.” The meeting allowed for the presentation of a new running mate and the detailing of measures announced as concrete in favor of women.

Éric Ciotti made an assessment of the situation of women in France and in Alpes-Maritimes. Each year, 272,400 people are victims of domestic violence. 84% of the victims are women. This figure has doubled since 2016 partly due to the liberation of speech and awareness campaigns. In 2023, 93 femicides were recorded in France. In Alpes-Maritimes, 48 femicides have occurred in ten years. The department is among the most affected by this phenomenon.

The insecurity in public spaces was also discussed. Night travel and the use of public transport are a source of fear for many women. This situation leads some to restrict their movements and freedom, especially at night.

Christelle d’Intorni, MP for Alpes-Maritimes, spoke during the meeting. This speech provided an opportunity to commend the launch of the group and to recall a parliamentary commitment to women’s rights and the fight against violence. This news was placed in a recent context, marked by the murder of Lizabeth, which occurred Wednesday night.

Zara Boutayeb Appointed Delegate for Women’s Rights

Following the interventions, Éric Ciotti announced the addition of the president of OGC Nice, Jean-Pierre Rivère’s wife on the municipal list, who had to withdraw from the candidate’s campaign. Zara Boutayeb is involved in “the school of the second chance.” This experience includes supporting women victims of violence. This support focuses on recovery paths. Within the municipal list, Zara Boutayeb will be the delegate for women’s rights.

This announcement was accompanied by the presentation of several priority measures. The first concerns emergency accommodation. The number of places reserved for single women and single mothers will be doubled. The facility would increase from about 50 to 100 places.

A measure also concerns public transport. A request stop after 9 pm will be introduced on buses for women. This system already exists in many French metropolises. The stated goal is to reduce walking trips at night.

Other measures focus on the situation of mothers who are victims of violence. Childcare services will be implemented in emergency accommodation facilities. This organization aims to allow the continuation of professional activity.

The issue of early childhood care was also addressed. The number of designated places in nurseries for children of women followed by the CCAS will be tripled. This number would increase from 10 to 30 places. Additional resources will also be allocated to Nice associations working on the ground for women’s rights.

All of these announcements are part of the launch of the group “Les Niçoises avec Ciotti.” This structure aims to gather support around proposals related to the condition of women in Nice.
