“The Gold Rush” born from the meeting between the Nice native Ernest Pignon-Ernest and journalist Pierre-Louis Basse. The artist will come for signings in Nice on December 4th.

Considered one of the pioneers of urban art in France, the street is usually the playground of choice for Ernest Pignon-Ernest. Together with journalist Pierre-Louis Basse, they created the book “The Gold Rush.” Although the book was released in April, Ernest Pignon-Ernest is coming to Nice on December 4, 2024, at the bookstore “Le Vestiaire A Mot,” for a unique signing session. A perfect gift for your art and sports enthusiast loved ones or even for your own enjoyment.

## An Unexpected Collaboration

Although passionate about sports, Ernest Pignon-Ernest had never drawn any. During a lunch between the two men, the idea grew, and the artist set to work. After a summer, the Nice native called the journalist to his studio in Paris. The latter was amazed by what he saw. They then decided to create this book combining each one’s art: drawing for one, and words for the other. It is not the artist’s first book. However, it is the only one containing works drawn especially for it, making it unique.

This book compiles thirty-five drawings of Olympic figures. Emil Zátopek, Jesse Owens, and Marie-José Pérec are intertwined with stories about the Olympic Games. A true journey through those who have created a breakthrough in the art of their sport.
