Following the success of the last 3 editions with over 3,000 participants each year, Espace Magnan is renewing its participation for the 4th year in the Animation Film Festival coordinated nationally by the AFCA (French Association of Animation Films), which will take place in the Jean Vigo Hall from Saturday, October 20th to Tuesday, October 30th, 2012.
The 2012 edition highlights nature and animals through recently released animated films for children from 2 years old: the short film program “Liliput Put” by Italian Bruno Bozzetto, the medium-length films by Isao Takahata, “Panda! Go, Panda!” based on a scenario by Hayao Miyazaki, the journey of Zarafa, the giraffe by Rémi Bezançon and Jean-Christophe Lie, the continuation of the adventures of Sammy the little sea turtle (Sammy 2 by Ben Stassen and Vincent Kesteloot)… and offers crossovers between arts – Cinema & Music, Cinema & Literature, Cinema & Painting.
With events organized around the screenings: a meeting with Stéphanie VARELA, a filmmaker who is a specialist in animated painting, following the screening of the film “Le Tableau” by Jean-François Laguionie on Saturday, October 20th at 2 PM, a Cine-Concert “The Little World of Leo Lionni” by the musicians of Stara Zagora on Saturday, October 27th at 3:30 PM, followed by a meeting with the musicians and a snack.
And also a Cine-Tale around the “Adventures of the Gruffalo”… From book to film, with the story of the Gruffalo told by Isabelle Servol followed by the screening of the second part, “The Little Gruffalo,” on Wednesday, October 24th at 2:30 PM, Sunday, October 28th at 3:45 PM, and Tuesday, October 30th at 10:30 AM, Cine-Snacks after the screening of Zarafa on Monday, October 29th at 3:45 PM, and after “Panda! Go, Panda!” on Tuesday, October 30th at 3:45 PM.
Additionally, there will be workshops on animated painting and an introduction to the cine-concert, an exhibition “Painting Comes Alive & The Secrets Behind Making Some Films in the 2012 Selection,” a drawing contest…
