Estra Présèpi, Christmas celebrations in the Nissart style

Latest News

Around the charming and burlesque puppets of the enchanter Dotti, come and witness this Niçois farce that will introduce you to the adventures of the angel Bouffareu’, who announces a birth in a village named Babazouk during his journey.

In the purest Niçois culture, this tradition has existed since 1830, well before the famous Lyonnais guignol. The first “Présèpi” was written by Menica Rondelly and Antoine Augier in 1901, but the First World War interrupted these performances, which returned in 1926 thanks to the impetus of Jouan Nicola.

A century later, Serge Dotti and the Nux Vomica companions resurrect this tradition through their show, which you must not miss if you are a fan of the Niçois language.

So, take some time during the festivities to make a detour to Rossetti Street, which houses this theater full of Niçois spirit.
