€18 million for the Grand Stadium of Nice

To meet the UEFA’s requirements, the city of Nice will be equipped with a new third millennium stadium, designed and built to exceed the environmental standards imposed by the Grenelle Environment Act.

At the invitation of the President of the Republic, Nicolas Sarkozy, the Minister of Industry and Mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, participated today at noon in a meeting at the Élysée Palace. The meeting aimed to review France’s bid for the Euro with the mayors of the 11 other pre-selected cities and the French football federation authorities.

“I am delighted with the decision made today by President Nicolas Sarkozy concerning the Euro 2016 bid. By fully committing, the State shows its desire to host an event like the Euro on its soil. It is no longer just the ‘football planet’ endorsing the project, but the whole country supporting this candidacy. Personally, the 18 million euros allocated by the State for the construction of the Grand Stade de Nice reinforces the steps I have taken in recent months in support of the stimulus plan.” Christian Estrosi
