After a long journey through five qualifying stages across the department, the final of the Europétanque precision shooting competition was held at the Jardins de la Préfecture this Friday. At the end of a fierce competition between 30 contenders, only seven validated their ticket for the Promenade des Anglais.
This Friday, October 2, the Jardins de la Préfecture in Nice hosted the departmental final of Europétanque precision shooting. This highly anticipated event concluded a long selection process. Before being able to step on this shooting range, the thirty competitors present at the beginning of the afternoon had to go through five qualifying stages organized across five corners of the department.
The serious business began at 2 p.m. under the Nice sunshine. On the lanes, the stakes were immense, as competitors needed to secure one of the seven remaining tickets to join Julien Poilbarbe (already qualified). As the workshops progressed, tension mounted and each point mattered to separate particularly sharp candidates.
The law of the millimeter and composure
On particularly demanding targets, the slightest imprecision in trajectory or dosage came at a high price. Throughout the regulated workshops (single ball, hidden ball, cork shooting), the contenders had to combine absolute consistency and nerve control in front of judges and spectators.
In this competition, it was Yanis Emmanuelidis who stood out with the best score, reaching 42 points, followed closely by Jean-Pierre Birri and his 41 points. Alexandre Legrand and Olivier Sanchez secured their place with 38 points each, while Anthony Chemin, Julien De-Zanet and Amir Khader validated their qualification with 34 points.
The next step for these eight men is Friday, October 16, when the grand Europétanque final will return from 1 p.m. on the Promenade des Anglais, facing the Théâtre de Verdure in Nice.
