This weekend marked the 21st edition of the Europétanque des Alpes-Maritimes. On this occasion, the event introduced a new format.
Nearly 2,500 pétanque players, divided into 512 teams, participated this weekend with the goal of winning the 21st edition of the Europétanque. Previously organized on the pétanque courts in Nice, the Europétanque des Alpes-Maritimes was held at the Hippodrome de la Côte d’Azur, in Cagnes-sur-Mer. This change was welcomed by the president of the department, Charles Ange Ginésy: “The Europétanque benefits from an exceptional setting that should continue to attract players and further the development of this great competition. Pétanque is part of the DNA of our territory. I am delighted that a competition of such magnitude is being held in the Alpes-Maritimes.”
In this new setting by the Mediterranean, the pétanque players put on a show throughout the weekend. On Saturday, while the qualification matches followed one another, the precision shooting tournament saw the victory of the seven-time world champion in all categories, Dylan Rocher (31 years old). He faced another professional in the discipline, Mickaël Bonetto (29 years old), a two-time French champion. Two heavyweights of pétanque in France and around the world.
