In anticipation of this heatwave, the Minister of Solidarity and Health is reminding of prevention advice.

๏‚ท Elderly, disabled, or isolated vulnerable people: Encourage them to register on the list provided by each town hall to receive support from volunteers and check on them very regularly. Letโ€™s be supportive of the most deprived, especially the homeless, and encourage them to access cooled places, both day and night, with the opening of parks and gardens.

๏‚ท Infants and young children: Ensure they are protected from the heat at all times (avoid going out during the hottest hours, make sure they drink and stay hydrated regularly, have them wear hats and sunglasses, and apply sunscreen). Never leave them in a poorly ventilated room or a vehicle, even for a very short time.

๏‚ท Children: Keep an eye on them to prevent drowning. During the summer of 2018, accidental drownings increased by 30% compared to the summer of 2015, especially during periods of intense heat. Children and adults, be cautious if there is a significant temperature difference between the water and the air, as you risk thermal shock and may lose consciousness.

๏‚ท Workers: Drink plenty of water several times a day. Be vigilant for your colleagues and yourself. Protect your skin from the sun, and if you feel unwell, report it quickly.

๏‚ท Athletes: Avoid physical activity during the hottest hours of the day.

๏‚ท In case of chronic illnesses or regular medication (such as dose adjustments), do not hesitate to seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist.
