Extension of the Video Verbalization System in Nice

Latest News

To put an end to double parking, which severely hinders city traffic, the city of Nice first sought to encourage the citizens to be more civic-minded before launching a proactive policy to combat chaotic parking by implementing video surveillance for ticketing.

videoverb.jpg The declared intention of the capital of the French Riviera is to improve car and public transport traffic, and emergency vehicle access, but also to increase road safety and reduce pollution related to travel.

Since November 1, 2010, three identified sites (Carlone, Verdun, Gambetta South), known as recurring bottleneck points, have benefited from video ticketing systems.

As this has proven to be very effective, particularly in terms of traffic flow, the city is expanding this system from today to seven new sites (The areas are specified on the attached map):

  • Gambetta North,
  • Marceau,
  • Trachel,
  • Madeleine,
  • Chateauneuf / Grosso,
  • Dante,
  • California/Bosquets.

The ticketing will only be effective from Monday, August 8, 2011.

This ticketing will be preceded by a period of preventive information. From today until Monday, August 8, offenders will receive a letter indicating that they have been ticketed by camera but that it remains a warning without further consequence.
