Minors, aged 12 to 15, suspected to be the perpetrators of the vandalism and the start of the fire at the Farandole nursery in Les Moulins, have been arrested and will be presented to the Juvenile Court today. Last Saturday, this nursery, which hosts over a hundred children, was vandalized and set on fire.
Christian Estrosi, who, let’s recall, had issued a terse statement against the alleged laxity of government policy, and more specifically against the lack of practical measures by the Ministry of the Interior to the extent of considering filing a complaint against the State, expressed his satisfaction:
โFirst and foremost, I want to congratulate the law enforcement agencies for their quick response in a case that caused great distress among the hundred or so families who attend this facility and the municipal staff who look after these children daily.
I remind you that this unacceptable act led our services to find alternative solutions for practically all families, as both parents work. I am relieved by the swift resolution of this case.
I have full confidence in the magistrates to ensure that the required and pronounced sanctions match the severity of the acts and that the perpetrators realize the consequences of their actions.
I have already indicated that I am open to welcoming them within the framework of a potential criminal restitution order, so that these young minors fully understand the consequences of their actions.
Finally, I wish for the financial responsibility of the parents to be pursued and the City has become a civil party in this sense.โ
