On the occasion of the launch of the Journées de la Transmission, the City of Nice invites you to discover on Monday, November 19, 2012, at 2:15 PM, at the Jean-Étienne Marie Auditorium of the MAMAC in Nice, “Issa Nissa siàm pas de panissa”, a music CD that brings together Niçois creations and traditional songs. About a hundred 5th-grade students from different schools in Nice will attend this presentation in the presence of Jean-Marc Giaume, Municipal Councilor Delegate for Historical Heritage, Archaeology, Niçois Language and Culture, and Lauriano Azinheirinha, Deputy for Education and Youth.
This CD is the result of a collective effort coordinated by the Gorgomar company. Many artists sensitive to the transmission of the Niçois language and culture were involved in this production, continuing the work initiated by Mauris Sgaravizzi. A native of Nice, who passed away in July 2011, Mauris was a passionate advocate for the cultural revival of the “Occitan” and “Nissart” languages. A remarkable vehicle for the promotion of our collective and intangible heritage, the CD “Issa Nissa siàm pas de panissa” is also a tribute to this modern-day troubadour that was Mauris.
Created in 2010 by Christian Estrosi, Deputy Mayor of Nice, President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, the Journées de la Transmission are aimed at young Niçois to raise awareness of the History and Culture of Nice and its County.
“Today, Niçois, a fully-fledged regional language, can accompany our children until their baccalaureate, thus reinforcing that sense of rootedness which, unlike utopia, that no-man’s-land, allows us to know where we come from. Understanding, speaking, reading Niçois enriches our differences and further unites our sense of belonging to the Nation and the values of the Republic. That’s why I am pleased to offer our teachers and students of the City of Nice schools this collection of songs that honors texts and music in French and Niçois, integral parts of our human heritage.” Christian Estrosi, Deputy Mayor of Nice, President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis
